Primary view :  The angle from which a sculpture yields the most pleasing and comprehensive view.Some sculptures appear fragmentary or implausible when seen from any angle but the primary view.


I read this definition in a novel by Emma Donoghue that I was reading this week – the novel wasn’t much to speak of, but the quote was excellent. May I suggest that we are incapable of seeing each other from the primary view?
